Forum Q&A > grand canyon feasable?

Donald has asked me to post this q that i asked him via email

"Hi Donald
The Tucson conference sounds interesting, we may well make the effort.
How feasable is a visit to the Grand Canyon before or after?"

The Grand Canyon would be a beautiful area to visit if you can fit it in. However it is about an 5-6 hr drive north from Tucson in rental car. There are also bus tours to the GC:

If you can manage Sedona - only about 3-4 hours north of Tucson this would be a magical place to visit and highly suggest the taking the "Hummer tours". They will stop for you and let you take panos during the tour.

Hi John
I plan to go by train (again) from Chicago to Flagstaff a 30h trip only. Renting a car there and then it is easy to see Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater and all the interesting sites between Flagstaff, Sedona, Phoenix and Tucson

Chicago - Flagstaff on Amtrak Superliner

Grand Canyon Railway from Williams (near Flagstaff) to Grand Canyon
